Our story

The story began around 2014, when KC became obsessed with perfecting his ramen recipe with the dream of opening his own shop. After years of cooking on the line and working in Michelin starred restaurants, he had seen it all, but his true passion was to create something of his own, rooted in his Asian background. That passion came to life with the opening of Tenmomi Ramen, where KC’s quest for the perfect finishing touch led to the creation of Drama Oil. What started as a simple burnt garlic oil called "Mayu" (a Japanese aroma oil for tonkatsu ramen), quickly became much more. Just as soy sauce deepens a dish with saltiness, Drama Oil amplifies flavor with rich, burnt garlic intensity, transforming everyday meals into something unforgettable. 

The Team

Founded by Chef KC Gonzalez alongside a group of food obsessed friends, Drama Oil was born out of a mission to bring bold umami flavor into every home cook’s kitchen. Chef KC Gonzalez brings years of culinary expertise from the line to Michelin starred kitchens, and his passion for ramen led to the creation of Drama Oil. Partnering with him are Mike and Chris, food obsessed marketing professionals with years of experience in branding, media, and storytelling. Together, this team blends KC’s culinary craft with Mike and Chris’s marketing vision to share Drama Oil with the world.

How did you get the name?

The name says it all as everything you put it on instantly becomes more dramatic. It was inspired by the common belief that garlic can’t be burnt, a myth KC set straight in a TikTok video that went viral, racking up over 7 million views. From that moment, Drama Oil was born.
